There was exceptionally good weather on October the 5th – it was bright and sunny. So the birthday of the city abounded with the sunshine promising warm farewell of the Indian summer.

There were lots of people in the downtown of the festive Uman. On the main street there was an elegant column of Pavlo Tychyna Uman State Pedagogical University getting ready for the solemn procession and attracting attention with the playing of the brass band as well as bright garments, unique costumes of the members. Everyone could boast something special. Particular fascination were the boys and girls in the military uniform – the students of the military department. And the representatives of the Economics Department were wearing the hats with money signs from different countries of the world. From a distance one could hear the clinging of rewards of our athletes who glorified not only the University but also the native Uman and Ukraine.

And this time, the alley occupied by the Departments of our University in the central square in the exhibition of Uman enterprises and institutions attracted the most attention. It is amazing! The the number of exhibits was impressive and the artistic performance evoked admiration and pride at the same time. So many diligent and talented students at the University and their talents so skillfully developed by the teachers!

For those who feel cold the warm sweet tea and delicious snack cakes are offered by the guests and exhibitors of the University.

One could notice a large crowd of people near the scene of the puppet theatre of USPU - kids and parents were watching the show. And all this was happening in the morning even before the solemn demonstration actually started.

Most Surprising at the beginning of the celebration was the special manifestation of columns.

The big mounted stage housed the representatives of regional and local government, foreign guests, honored people of Uman including Natalia Pobirchenko - our Rector, the Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor, corresponding member of National Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine, honored worker of Ukraine. She exchanged greetings with the members of festive procession.

The Column of Uman State Pedagogical University was the most numerous and exclusively designed one, it bloomed with beautiful flowers, colorful balloons and banners.

This year, the flag of the University was carried by Andriy Hedzyk, the Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor, Head of the Chair of Professional Education and Computer Tehnologies. He was assisted by Oleksandr Patara, the Deputy Chairman of the Student Council of the University, a student of the Natureand Geography Department and and Natalia Derev'yanko, an undergraduate student of the History Department.

The Rectorate of the University was heading the column: Oleksandr Bezliudniy, the first Vice-Rector, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Honored Worker of Education of Ukraine, Olena Yaroshinska, the Vice-Rector for Scientific Work, Ph.D., Associate Professor, Tetiana Kochubej, the Vice-Rector for Scientific and Pedagogical Work, Ph.D., Associate Professor, Dmytro Baldynyuk, the Vice-Rector for Humanitarian Affairs, Ph.D., Associate Professor, Honored worker of Education of Ukraine, Natalia Petrenko, the Vice-Rectort for Economic and Commercial Issues, Oleksandr Osadchiy, the Vice-Rector for Social Affairs, Chairman of Trade Union of the University, Candidate of Agricultural Sciences, and representatives of the student Council of the University.

All the institutes and departments of the University presented themselves nicely in festive column. Beautiful costumes and creative greetings. But everyone was craving for something new! And it was found. The Sociology and Pedagogics Department (Oksana Kravchenko is the Dean) surprised the crowd with the colored fireworks. And the whole column of the Department flashed with bright, shining color fireworks.

After the festive walk the official part of the celebrations began. It was nice that among the awardees there were the representatives of our University. For significant contribution into the social and economic, cultural and educational development of urban local community, significant work achievements, dedicated and brilliant work, active social activities and on the occasion of the day of the city the honored employees of USPU (Tetiana Kochubej, the Vice-Rector for Scientific and Pedagogical Work, Ph.D., Associate Professor and Sergiy Kutsenko, the Artistic Director of the "Yavoryna" national folk Dance Ensemble) received the gifts and awards from the executive committee of the City Council of Uman for being "Best in Profession ".

After the award of the best people of the city the officials, participants of the ceremony together with Natalia Pobirchenko, the Rector enjoyed the exhibition. The guests could not help being pleasantly surprised by what they heard and saw. They expressed admiration with the creative approach and high level of performance.

It is difficult to name the best participants of the show because everyone is so great. All the exhibits have been filed with the creative ingenuity, sincere desire to show the best and so widely advertise the achievements, opportunities and creations and prove that our University is really the best.

Uman State Pedagogical University worthily contributed to the wonderful day of celebration, charging our local community with a good mood and sharing the aesthetic pleasure.
