On May 19, 2025, the international visit of the Cherkasy Region delegation to the state of Arizona (USA) officially began. The delegation includes representatives of the Regional State Administration, higher education institutions, and the business community of the region. Pavlo Tychyna Uman State Pedagogical University is represented by Vice-Rector for International Relations and Strategic Development, Volodymyr Mykolaiko.

The visit aims to lay the foundation for long-term partnerships with leading American educational institutions, to foster academic mobility, scientific collaboration, and the implementation of joint innovative projects.

The first day in Arizona was full of significant meetings and events. The delegation visited one of the world’s most renowned management schools — the Thunderbird School of Global Management — and held a series of meaningful discussions at Arizona State University (ASU), a national leader in academic innovation among U.S. universities.

At the Fulton Center of ASU, the Ukrainian delegation was introduced to cutting-edge approaches to higher education management, international cooperation strategies, and research initiatives across various fields. Highlights of the day included:

  • A discussion of partnership opportunities with Rick Shangraw, President of the international education organization Cintana Education;
  • A presentation of joint project prospects in healthcare by ASU Health leadership — Genevieve Bautista Young, David Schwartz, and Amy Woof;
  • An overview of the Security & Defense PLuS program with contributions from experts in global security and international policy;
  • Meetings with the Global Security Initiative and Future Security Initiative, led by Nathan Evans, Daniel Rothenberg, and Amos Fox;
  • An exploration of joint research opportunities in aerospace engineering and Earth sciences in collaboration with ASURE, presented by Scott Smass.

The participation of a Pavlo Tychyna Uman State Pedagogical University representative as part of the regional delegation marks an important step in strengthening ties with international partners and integrating the university into the global academic community.

The upcoming days of the visit are expected to further expand professional dialogue, foster new international partnerships, and open additional avenues for academic and institutional collaboration.
