On the basis of Pavlo Tychyna Uman State Pedagogical University there was a meeting of heads of educational establishments and teachers of the University, academic advisors of the Junior Academy of Sciences of Ukraine organized in collaboration with the Department of Education of the City Council of Uman and the methodical department.

Natalia Pobirchenko, the Rector of the University, Professor, warmly greeted the conference participants and emphasized the importance of the creative works of the younger generation for the national development and close cooperation between the university lecturers and teachers in fostering of abilities of the gifted young people. With great enthusiasm she talked about the creative connection: the pupils, the students, the teachers, the professors as a complete support system for gifted children. Among a range of measures of the State, Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine the defense competition of the Small Academy of Sciences is a big step in the development of unique individuality of the child whose skills and talents will serve our country in this enormous world.

Every year the members of the Academy upgrade their professionalism as they work in the team. Introducing the scientific advisors, Olena Yaroshynska, the Vice-Rector of USPU for scientific work, Ph.D., Associate Professor stressed that the University professors are open to fruitful collaboration with educators in advanced training of the Academy students to do fundamental work to be successful and respected.

Inna Trokhymenko, the Head of methodical unit of Education Department of the Uman City Council congratulated everyone on the new academic year, beginning of new creative exploration, voiced agendas and expressed the wishes and requirements to scientific works of the students.

The work results of the Small Academy of Science in 2012/2013 academic year introduced Tetiana Pliushch, the Methodist methodical unit of Education Department show very good achievements. There were 38 sections in 11 academic departments in the Small Academy of Science in the city Department of Education. 82 research works of students from schools and out-of-school educational institutions in 32 sections were presented for the jury. On the second (regional) level the competition was attended by 37 students who defended their work in 32 sections. 26 students from schools and out-of-school educational establishments in Uman became the winners of the second phase of the competition-defense. Most of the winners were prepared by the heads of sections of the Academy of the city high school (8), school number 3 (4), school № 14 (4). Almost twenty teachers of USPU prepared the winners of the second stage of the competition - defense of the scientific and research works of the students-members of the Academy.

Participants of the third phase were 4 students - members of the Small Academy of Sciences. Olga Motuzenko, the student of gymnasium, was the winner of the nationwide stage of the competition. Her supervisor was Svitlana Sovgira, the Head of the Department of Chemistry, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor.

Small Academy of Sciences is the first investment of students into the science, and science is difficult. It requires a lot of effort, a permanent growing of intellectual capacity. We wish our university scientists and young researchers, students of the Academy inspiration, interesting ideas and fruitful results of the hard work.
