On September the 19th the scientists from Kyiv, Kharkiv, Lviv, Mogilev- Podolsky, Melitopol, Kherson and specialists of social institutions of the Uman region gathered at the Sociology and Psychology Department to hold the " Rights of the child : from the past to the present" nationwide scientific-practical conference. The relevance of the conference was proved by the number of scientists present and their geographical origin as there were about 200 participants from all over the country.
In their reports the well-known scientists and practitioners of the Child Service of the City Council of Uman, Uman district center for families, children and young people, experts in legal education of population of the Uman city district administration of justice, social educators and lawyers touched upon the issues of not only scientific interest, but also a strong social demand. In particular, there were the following problems discussed:
- Ensuring the rights of socially -disadvantaged individuals as a condition for the development of a humanistic society.
- Rights of the children as a social and educational problem.
- Psychological basics of the children's rights.
- Social and legal protection of an individual: the experience of activity.
- Training of the specialists in social and legal protection of children.
There is a printed book on the conference discussion materials. It can be useful for workers of establishments of the social and psychological protection of children and young people and students - future social workers and psychologists.
