In ancient Italian town Lanchiano (region Abbrutstso) talented musicians traditionally gather in the fall to demonstrate their proficiency. So this year from September 26 to October 1, the XXIII International Contest of Accordion Bayan «Premio della citta Lanciano» was taking place. Among the participating countries were Austria, Belarus, Israel, Kazakhstan, China, Lithuania, Germany, Poland, Russia, Slovakia, Ukraine and the Czech Republic.
The participants competed in the categories "Soloist" and "Ensambles". Consequently, each category was respectively divided into the subcategories: Soloists were classified by age and ensembles by the number of participants. In one of the categories (bands with up to 8 participants) the representatives of Pavlo Tychyna Uman State Pedagogical University performed the contest program. That was an instrumental duet of Vira Kalabska (domra) and Tetiana Radziwill (bayan), the teachers of Arts and Pedagogics Department of the Institute of Child Development. They nicely presented our University and won the third place in the contest.
The skill of performers of the contestants were evaluated by the jury consisting of the famous musicians, artists among which there were Oleg Sharov - Professor of St. Petersburg State Conservatory named after Rimsky - Korsakov, Honored Artist of Russia, Corresponding Member Petrovska Academy of Arts and Sciences, winner of the international music contest, Volodymyr Solovyov - Rector of Petrozavodsk State A Glazunov Conservatory, a Professor, artist, teacher, Honored Artist of the Republic of Karelia, Honored Artist of Russia, Volodymyr Grachev - Honored Artist of the Republic of Bashkortostan, Professor of the Saratov state Sobinov Conservatory, laureate of international contests and more. The head of the jury was Volodymyr Zubytskiy, an Honored Artist of Ukraine, a composer, conductor, singer, winner of international competitions.
