The grand opening of personal exhibition of Ivan Serdyuk, the member of National Association of craftsmen of Ukraine took place on the day of the city in the "Stara Uman" State Historical- Architectural Reserve. Ivan S. Is a veteran of labor, excellent public educator of Ukraine, a former senior lecturer of Pavlo Tychyna Uman State Pedagogical University.

- I love my Ukraine as the sun, as the father and mother as her children and grandchildren, - he said at the opening ceremony. - And I love Uman - the city which I have given all my heart for almost 50 years. It is here that I had found my destiny, my children were born here, my parents were buried here and I will probably find my last refuge here. Meanwhile, I will continue working for as long as I can.

The artist devoted his creative life to his native Ukraine, the illustrations of the rich folklore. The exhibition presented creative works of art and intarsia (a type of inlay - cutting in the tree).

In 1960, Ivan S. graduated from the Kosiv college in Ivano - Frankivsk (now the Institute of Applied Arts). After receiving the Diploma of an artistic wood master he worked as a teacher for 2 years in his motherland (born in the village Ivakhny Monastyryshche Raion Cherkasy Oblast).

From 1967 onwards the biography of Ivan S. Serdyuk became closely related to Uman State Pedagogical Institute. After graduating from the higher educational establishment with the specialty of "teacher of labor studies and mathematics" he originally worked as a teacher in urban schools № 12, № 14 , № 2 . And from 1978 to 2010 he was a senior lecturer at Pavlo Tychyna Uman State Pedagogical University. Engaged in teaching, research and methodological activities, he persistently pursuits applied arts, involves students into this work and actively promotes it, as evidenced by the 50 published scientific articles, 7 teaching methodical books, over 20 training programs some of which were included by the Institute of Education into the training programs on labor training at schools and have been used by teachers for nearly a quarter of a century.

Since 2011, the People's master is retired, but he has not abandoned his creative activities.

- I draw the ideas from folklore because folk sources are inexhaustible, it is only lack of time, the master said.

Congratulating Ivan Serdyuk on the opening of the exhibition in his hometown, Oleksandr Kobernyk, the Director of Institute of Natural Sciences and Mathematics and Technology Education of USPU, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor spoke about the multifaceted talent of the artist. Ivan S. is remembered in the University as a master of carving and ceramics.

Ivan S. Serduk participated in more than 70 exhibitions. Over the last 10 years his creative activity has been very intense and fruitful, as evidenced by 7 exhibitions. His works are exhibited in many cities in Ukraine and abroad - in Kyiv, Lutsk, Cherkasy, Korsun -Shevchenko, Kaniv, Gniezno (Poland).
